Anti-wrinkle or wrinkle-reduction injections utilise an agent which weakens muscles temporarily. These agents are now generally accepted as a very successful treatment for facial lines, furrows and wrinkles resulting from many years of facial muscle activity. These lines are, in medical parlance, referred to as 'dynamic' lines and are commonly known by terms such as:

The clinical staff at
carefully place injections to weaken the muscles that create dynamic lines
in a manner which is medically safe and does not leave the face looking
frozen or expressionless. The effects of the injections are temporary
(up to approximately 3 months) depending on, for example, the strength
of the muscle. During the time the agent is active, however, people often
adapt to using other muscles for facial expression. Further treatments
will most likely need to be repeated every 3 to 6 months to maintain the
effect, although smaller doses will most likely be required with successive
treatments.
